Our Story
From Tokyo to Sydney
Momisho was founded in Tokyo in 2004 after our founder graduated from a Japanese beauty college and dedicated herself to the art of body and skin care.
The name 揉み匠 — Momisho was given by her mentor.
揉み — Momi represents gentle yet purposeful touch.
匠 — Sho represents craftsmanship, patience and commitment to one's skill.
More than twenty years later, that philosophy continues in Burwood, Sydney.
Momisho carries forward the same belief that shaped the original Tokyo studio: thoughtful technique, genuine care and respect for every guest.

The Momisho Philosophy
We believe genuine relaxation cannot be rushed.
Layer by layer. Muscle by muscle. Breath by breath.
Our approach combines Japanese-inspired massage techniques, progressive pressure, deep muscle work and personalized remedial care to create a treatment that responds to the individual rather than following a rigid routine.
We do not force the body into relaxation. We work with it—gradually releasing tension and creating space for greater comfort, balance and calm.
This is the philosophy of Momisho Japanese Remedial Massage: precise pressure, attentive care and a considered approach to restoring balance between body and mind.

Personalized to the Individual
Every body carries tension differently. That is why our approach to Japanese remedial massage is never one-size-fits-all.
Throughout each session, our therapists carefully observe how the body responds, identifying areas of muscular tightness, sensitivity and accumulated strain. Pressure, depth, rhythm and treatment focus can then be adjusted according to the individual.
By working progressively rather than aggressively, we can focus more precisely on tense muscle groups and areas requiring greater attention while keeping the overall experience balanced and comfortable.
Deep Physical Release, Gentle Mental Relaxation
Our philosophy extends beyond the muscles.
The slow, continuous rhythm of our remedial massage techniques encourages the body to gradually release physical tension while creating a calmer environment for the mind. As tight muscles begin to soften and the body becomes more relaxed, many guests find it easier to slow down, switch off and enjoy a deeper sense of rest.
For Momisho, this connection between physical relief and mental relaxation is an essential part of the treatment experience.
